USDA Portland Daily Grain 07/25 14:00 JO_GR110 Portland, OR Mon Jul 25, 2011 USDA Market News Portland Daily Grain Report Bids as of 11:30 a.m.; Subject to change Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during July by unit trains and barges, in dollars per bushel, except oats, corn and barley, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. All other wheat and barley bids are for full July delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery. September wheat futures closed 3-3/4 to 9-1/2 cents per bushel lower than Fridays closes. Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat delivered to Portland by unit trains and barges during July trended mixed, from five cents lower to five cents per bushel higher compared to Fridays noon bids. Some exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for July delivery were nine to 14 cents per bushel lower than Fridays noon bids. Bids were pressured by the lower Kansas City September wheat futures, and a lower basis bid by some exporters. Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring Wheat for July delivery trended eight to 38 cents per bushel lower compared to Fridays noon bids. The lower Minneapolis September wheat futures and a lower basis bid by some exporters pressured cash bids. Protein scales for non- guaranteed 14.0 percent protein were plus 35 to 40 cents each 1/4 of a percent of protein up to 16 percent protein and minus 45 cents each 1/4 of a percent of protein down to 13 percent protein. Some exporters are bidding a premium for guaranteed 14 percent protein dark northern spring wheat. Some exporters are not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for US 2 Barley for July delivery were not available. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland via single rail cars trended 20 cents per cwt lower than Fridays noon bids in response to the higher Chicago September corn futures. Corn bids truck delivered to the Yakima Valley were also 20 cents per cwt lower than Fridays noon bids.
